Travel & Health Updates

H1N1 Flu

ISE programming for 2010 is progressing as usual.  ISE monitors the following CDC websites for updates on travel abroad and the H1N1 flu.

General Traveler Information: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/default.aspx
H1N1 Traveler Information:
http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/content/novel-h1n1-flu.aspx

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • ISE’s regular cancellation policy applies to all cancellations, flu-related or otherwise.
  • If a participant cancels because s/he has contracted the flu prior to departure, the regular cancellation policy applies. In the “to be determined” phase, the fee will be calculated on an individual basis. Participants may also submit a claim on ISE’s trip cancellation insurance. The current maximum reimbursement for trip cancellation due to illness of the participant is $700.
  • If a participant becomes ill while traveling, s/he has $500 insurance coverage for illness.
ISE strongly recommends that participants inform their own health insurance provider that they will be traveling abroad and procure additional, short-term coverage if necessary.
  • ISE recommends that participants purchase additional trip cancellation insurance if they are at all concerned about traveling abroad. A simple Google search for “Travel Insurance” will produce many viable options.

ISE will continue to monitor the situation and update this page as necessary.
