This is a sample itinerary. Your actual itinerary will be assigned by ISE in accordance with the family stay community. Daily activities and sightseeing will be chosen by the group leader(s).

Day 1 Departure: En route to Barcelona

Day 2: Arrival and transfer to hotel. Spend the day exploring Barcelona by foot. Greet the human statues along La Rambla and enjoy getting lost in the labyrinth that is el Barri Gótic. Enjoy an ISE welcome dinner. (B, D)

Day 3: Visit the must-see Sagrada Familia, the still unfinished Antoni Gaudí masterpiece. And you’ll be amazed by Gaudí’s other extraordinary creation—Parque Guell. (B)

Day 4:  Board the motorcoach bus en route to Bilbao, the Basque Country’s biggest and busiest city. But first, make a stop in Zaragoza to see the enormous Basílica de Nuestra Señor Del Pilar along the Río Ebro. Arrive in time for dinner in Bilbao’s old town—El Casco Viejo. (B)

Day:  Don’t miss Bilbao’s main attraction—the Guggenheim museum, home of works by Picasso and Miró, among others. You may opt for a ride up Artxandra hill on the funicular for a breathtaking view of the city. (B)

Day 6:  Board the bus again—the beaches of northern Spain await you in Santander. Learn more about prehistoric Spain at the Museo Regional de Prehistoria y Arqueologia de Canatbria. (B)

Days 7-12: Off to meet your Familia Española! During your 6-night stay with a family, you will get to know the everyday life of a Spanish family. (Meals at home)

Day 13: Meet back up with your classmates and head to Madrid—Spain’s capital city. Enjoy exploring the plazas and fountains of Old Madrid. Get a refresco in the Plaza Mayor. You may decide to attend an optional flamenco show.

Day 14: Visit the impressive Palacio Real before heading to see some of Spain’s most treasured masterpieces at El Prado. Enjoy an ISE farewell dinner and pack your bags for your return.

Day 15 Return: Transfer to the airport for your return to the U.S. (B)

15-Day Self-Guided Program:Prices are based on a minimum group size of 32 students from combined schools and a minimum teacher/student ratio of 1:8. When minimum group size is not reached, a small-group supplement will apply.
