Day 1 San Juan: Arrival in San Juan, transfer to your hotel in Old San Juan. Once you’re settled in visit the second oldest building in the Western hemisphere, San Juan Bautista Cathedral, El Parque de la Palomas and walk through El Paseo de la Princesa. Enjoy a welcome dinner to introduce you to the fabulous Puerto Rican cuisine. (D)
Day 2 San Juan: Learn about Puerto Rico’s past and present as you visit El Morro, El Capitolio y La Fortaleza, the Governor’s mansion. (B)
Days 3-7 Family Stay: Make your way to Arecibo to explore the Cuevas de Camuy. Next stop is at the Observatorio de Arecibo, where you will check out the world’s largest radio telescope. Finally, say hasta luego to your classmates for a few days and mucho gusto to your new Puerto Rican family! Many adventures await you over the next few days and nights you will spend together. (all meals at home)
Day 8 La Parguera: On your way to La Pargüera, stop for photos at the Universidad de Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus. After dinner, take a boat tour of Phosphorescent Bay where bioluminescent micro-organisms light up the night. (B)
Day 9 Ponce: Explore the ancient Indian ceremonial center of Tibes. Continue on to Ponce to enjoy El Vigia, Jardines Chinos, El Castillo Serralles, El Parque de Bombas and La Catedral Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. (B)
Day 10 Luquillo: Visit a working coffee farm before making your way to the lovely beaches of Luquillo, (B)
Day 11 El Yunque & Luquillo: Spend the morning hiking in El Yunque U.S. National Forest. After working up an appetite, head to Playa Luquillo for a typical lunch at the many food kiosks. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at the beach. Savor the delicious flavors of island cuisine with a farewell dinner. (B,D)
Day 12 Return: Transfer to the airport and return home to the mainland
