Bayern und Berlin

This is a sample itinerary. Your actual itinerary will be assigned by ISE in accordance with the family stay community. Other itineraries are also available. Daily activities and sightseeing will be chosen by the group leader(s).

DAY 1 DEPARTURE: Board your flight to München with your teacher and classmates.

DAY 2 MÜNCHEN: Spend three days exploring Bavaria’s beautiful “Stadt mit Herz”.Stroll through the Altstadt and don’t miss the Glockenspiel am Marienplatz. Enjoy an ISE Welcome dinner. (D)

DAY 3 MÜNCHEN: Visit the Deutsches Museum and Schloss Nymphenburg. Find tasty dishes for lunch at the lively Viktualienmarkt. Tour Olympic Park and the BMW Museum. (B)

DAY 4 MÜNCHEN: Enjoy a day visiting one of King Ludwig’s castles and experience the charm of Alpine villages like Füssen or Garmisch-Partenkichen. (B)

DAY 5 ROTHENBURG ob der Tauber: Travel by motor coach to the medieval village of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Walk along the town wall, visit the Kriminalmuseum, and be sure to try a Schneeball, a local speciality. Listen to the Nachtwächter share Rothenburg’s unique history. (B)

DAYS 6-11 FAMILY STAY: This is what you’ve been waiting for! Spend six unforgettable days with your German Mutter, Vater und Geschwister, experiencing everyday life, using your language skills in real-life situations and making new friends. (Meals at home)

DAYS 12-14 BERLIN: You won’t want to leave, but it’s time to bid your host family farewell and head to the capital, Berlin! Stop in Potsdam on the way and marvel at Schloss Sanssouci.The next day, visit the Brandenburger Tor and Checkpoint Charlie. Don’t miss the 360-degree view from the glass dome of the Reichstag. Ride the S-Bahn from Bahnhof Zoo to Alexanderplatz. Explore the historic streets of Mitte and modern Potsdamer Platz. Reflect on the last two weeks with your Mitreisendenat your Farewell Dinner. DAY 15 RETURN: It seems too soon to say “ Tschüß,” but it’s time to board your plane and return to the U.S. (B)

15-day Self-Guided Program: Prices are based on a minimum group size of 32 students from combined schools and a minimum teacher/student ratio of 1:8. When minimum group size is not reached, a small-group supplement will apply.
