Note: The order of this itinerary is subject to modification based on actual air and/or family stay arrangements.
Day 1 San José: Arrive in San José, transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Sarapiquí Family Stay: Hike the rainforest in the famous and dramatically scenic forested mountains of Braulio Carrillo National Park. After lunch continue on to Sarapiquí where you will meet your Tico host family (B,L,D). Note: 2-3 students will be placed per family on this program.
Day 3 Sarapiquí Family Stay: Enjoy a full day hiking at the world famous rainforest station, La Selva, part of the Organization for Tropical Studies. Here you will learn about the rainforest and its wildlife (toucans, parrots, sloths, peccaries, agouties, etc.). At night you will meet our noctournal friends on a bat tour in Tirimbina Reserve (B,L,D).
Day 4 Sarapiquí Family Stay: Participate in a tropical forest composition workshop in Tirimbina Reserve. Later enjoy your last night with your host families!! (B,L,D)
Day 5 Arenal: Bid farewell to your Tico hosts and travel to one of the youngest and most active volcanoes in Costa Rica, volcan Arenal. On the way stop at La Fortuna Waterfall for a refreshing swim. (B,D)
Day 6 Arenal: Head to an organic tropical farm where you will get to work with local farmers. Learn about tropical crops, milk cows, squeeze sugar cane juice and more. Jobs are based on the current needs of the farm at the time of travel. Later Zipline through the jungle canopy and take a relaxing dip in the area’s natural hot springs. (B,D)
Day 7 Manuel Antonio: Hike the trails of the San Ramon Cloud forest, characterized by trees densely covered from top to bottom with moist “carpets” of epiphytes including mosses, bromeliads, ferns and orchids. Visit a typical school where you will meet Costa Rican kids just like you. (B)
Day 8 Manuel Antonio: Explore waterfalls and canopy bridges at a reserve located on a beautiful mountain range between the Naranjo and Savegre rivers watersheds. (B)
Day 9 Manuel Antonio: Finally, visit the lovely Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the country's most popular national parks because of its unique mix of beaches, tropical rainforest and abundant wildlife. Here you will have up-close views of white-faced capuchin and squirrel monkeys, sluggish sloths, and black iguanas. (B)
Day 10 Return: Transfer to the San José International Airport and return home to the U.S. (B)

Air travel on Friday, Saturday or Sunday carries a $25/Day weekend surcharge. Requests for specific travel dates or airline may incur additional charges.
Prices are based on a minimum group size of 24 students from combined schools and a minimum teacher/student ratio of 1:8. When minimum group size is not reached, a small-group supplement will apply.
